There is still one Sister in St. Mary’s
N.S. — Sr. Maureen Brennan.
The
Sisters of Mercy acquired the Manor House
in April 1947 and it was open in March 1951
as Our Lady’s Manor Nursing Home.
Since
then a number of extensions and improvements
have been made, in 1972 a considerable extension
and improvements were made which double
the bed complement and also included a new
fully equipped kitchen.
In
1982 a further expansion was performed to
include rooms such as a large day room,
a chapel and mortuary facilities, during
1990’s further improvements were made
once again extending the bed complement
from 53 —71 beds including 2 Hospice
beds and 2 Respite beds.
The Sisters of Mercy acquired the Gate Lodge
in 1999 and Shalom, a home for the Sisters
was build in 1995 and sisters moved in April
11th which has 10 Sisters at present.

In
1946 Sr. Rosario Deery was given the task
of introducing second level education to
Intermediate Certificate in Mostrim, it
was started in St. Elizabeth’s school,
continued at the Manor from 1948 to 1967.
It was then moved back to St. Elizabeth’s
in 1971 and it was then moved to St. Joseph’s
in Longford. |
